The hypothesis is the building block of the Scientific Method. Therefore, it is of great importance that a hypothesis can withstand the rigorousness of the Scientific Method through the important attributes of being specific and testable. As such, part of the rigorousness of the Scientific Method mandates that hypotheses can never be proven, they can only be supported, or not supported/rejected.
