Exercise In groups of 2 to 3s, develop Problem Context Diagram (PCD), Project Charter, and SIPOC Purpose Deliverables: This exercise enables delegates to develop competence through practice in putting a problem into context. It provides initial detail that enables the project charter to be defined in terms of the Scope and Business case and the SIPOC to be created. 1. Select a process from your work, which is not performing as expected, i.e. it needs lots of improvement. 2. For this process, prepare the PCD diagram to show: The outcome you don't like. The process where this outcome is detected. The processes which feed into it (Upstream processes). The processes affected by it. (Downstream processes). 3. Using existing process knowledge, identify the few (20%) upstream processes you think contribute most (80%) to the problem identified; Make a note of the reason why you think each process is a vital contributor 4. Using existing process knowledge, identify the few (20%) downstream processes you think are most impacted (80%) by the problem identified; Make a note of how they will be individually impacted, performance wise; Make a rough assessment of the benefits to the business if the problem was solved (the Business case) 5.
