Organization/Company Background:
NIMAC is a permanent region within the structure of the Independent Media Arts Alliance (IMAA) - a
non-profit national organization working to advance the media arts community in Canada and
representing 80+ independent media arts organizations across the country. NIMAC acts as the
Indigenous arm of the IMAA. NIMAC also operates as a distinct organization, delivering arts activities as
an incorporated, not-for-profit arts organization with its own membership. NIMAC helps to facilitate the
production, presentation and dissemination of Indigenous media art through various artistic initiatives
including residencies and commissioning projects, as well as maintaining a current list of recourses for
Indigenous media artists on the NIMAC website. We also advocate for equitable opportunities for
Indigenous media artists within the landscape of the media arts in Canada.
