Experimental Procedure For this experiment the PASCO USB Link, Laptop, photogate, and digital adapter was necessary which was already set up prior. The PASCO USB Link is plugged into the computer then the photogate into the digital adapter which is also connected to the USB Link. The photogate is then mounted on the pulley mounting rod. In order to perform experiment correctly the photogate's head must be turned sideways so that the picket fence can drop through the instrument vertically from above the photogate. Finally, a soft-landing pad is placed on the floo below the photogate to ensure lab safety. Once everything is in its place, Click the record button located on the bottom left of the computer screen. Hold the picket fence above the photogate and drop it through the gate. Once the fence hits the landing pad, click the stop button to end the recording. Data should automatically be displayed on the computer screen which is the block times. From there calcula the change in block times, velocities, change in velocities, and accelerations. Repeat each step once again, but this time hold the picket fence slightly higher. Collect and calculate the data for the second trial
