explain whether you agree with the thoughts on the drawbacks and benefits of having community input on forming an organizational mission statement. from the summary below. Why or why not? Do you think it will increase transparency?
Drawbacks from having community input their thoughts and opinions on items like a mission statement for an organization are little. But with anyone asking for input, there is bound to me someone with a different opinion from the original thought which can cause tension and a lot of questioning. This can then lead to mistrust and disloyalty between the organization and the community where in reality the organizations goal is to incorporate those thoughts and ideas to include them.
It is always beneficial to see opinions and situations from multiple points of views, so hearing what the community wants/ needs from the department can prove to be beneficial in the future. These needs and wants are external so it can be beneficial to have that feedback from the community (Stojkovic, Kalinich, & Klofas, 2015). Citizens want to find the good in the criminal justice system so when new employees come to train and learn, the community and the organization must work together to show what is important about the morals of that organization and why someone should want to work alongside the community (Maguire, Hill, & Giles, H.(2023).By receiving feedback from the community their thoughts and feelings and it would not come as a shock to the organization when reconfiguring new mission statements.
