In the position shown in the figure, the spring is stretched by an amount 8 = 1 ft, and the block is in equilibrium but is in impending motion downward. a) Draw a free body diagram of the block at the position of impending downward slip shown, and determine both the normal force exerted by the incline on the block and the weight W of the block. b) If the block is pulled down the incline an additional distance d = 2 ft and released from rest, determine if it will slide up the incline. (Use the value of W found in part a). ) c) If it does slide up the incline, determine the distance h the block travels back up the incline before it again comes to rest. d) If it does slide up the incline, calculate the speed v of the block when it first returns to its original position.
