b) Calculate required steel reinforcement for column BD for the load case and show in a
diagram how reinforcement is being placed. Use 25 longitudinal reinforcement and
links (stirrups)12.

If the short column in problem 1 carries a design moment of MEdz =45 kN.m (about z-z axis)
in addition to the design load; NEd =625.5 kN and M Edy =225 kN.m. Check for reinforcement
found in Problem 1 is sufficient to carry both moments.Suggest any new reinforcement to
provide adequate capacity
