Figure 1 displays a new implementation of the DAC system of a company for storing important documents
Question:
Figure 1 displays a new implementation of the DAC system of a company for storing important documents and programs on a shared Linux server. It only applies to the directory /opt/company (you can ignore all files/directories that are not within this directory)
As shown in Figure 1, there are three groups: staff, eng and fin and five users. The permissions of directories and files inside /opt/company are shown in the output of the ls -lR command. In the following you are asked to implement Figure 1 in Kali Linux and create an authorization table for the files in Figure 1.
(i) Login as a root user in Kali Linux. Create the three groups and five users with the commands adduser, addgroup. For each group, add the users as shown in Figure 1 to the group.
(ii) Create the directories and files with the commands mkdir and touch, and corresponding users as in Figure 1. Change their permissions according to Figure 1 with chmod.
(iii) Explain steveng’s permission to the files year12.xls and year13.xls. If damienb wants to temporarily give read and write permission of year12.xls to steveng, how should damienb do to achieve this?
(iv) Assume the files are the objects, the subjects are the five users and the access rights are own, read, write and execute.
