Noble Advertising are the best in the business. They have a fantastic reputation in the cut-
throat world of advertising. There is a great demand amongst photographers and writers to get
work from Noble. They are always able to get good people.
Quickflash has been providing photographs to Noble Advertising for the past six months. Their
work is considered top quality and has won several awards for Noble in a short time. From an
artistic point of view, all is well. However, the same cannot be said for the communication
between the two companies.
Quickflash has just celebrated its first anniversary and are still trying to establish themselves in
business. As there are only three people at Quickflash, certain areas of administration are not
given the attention that might be given by a bigger company.
A disagreement has occurred between Quickflash and the Administration Department at Noble.
The problems are that Quickflash have missed some deadlines by one or two days. There have
even been several instances where photos have turned up 3 weeks early. The second
complaint is that Quickflash often mixes up orders. They might send 1020'' and 1530", but
the order was for 1520" and 1030". On the other hand, Quickflash are not very happy about
Noble's payment structure, they say that they must wait too long for their money. They are a
small company and should not be denied cash flow by bigger companies.

There are only 3 of you in the company. You realize that your office organization could be
better, but you have re-invested all your earnings in state-of-the-art cameras and camera
equipment. You have only been in business one year and are nowhere near your potential.

write clear invoices and just lumped the jobs together and hoped they could figure out the

About half the orders are made over the phone and therefore you will not take responsibility for

your answer machine that contains an incorrect order. You also know that your pricing structure
does not have very clear guidelines.
To maintain your independence (you have other clients and are trying to expand your customer
base) and cover your administration and communication needs, you would like to have your
own back-office equipment, rather than be tied to any of your clients with their systems. You are
also not interested in hiring anyone, nor tying yourself in any way to another company or
organization.
You have priced a total communications system that will grow with you and includes a server, 4
computers with office software, CRM (Customer-Relationship-Management) software, photo
editing software (Adobe Suite), iPhones and iPads. Such a system would cost 20,000. You
have 10,000 available but you also need to invest at least 4,000 in new camera equipment.
Your bank has agreed to provide a loan of 8,000 at 5%. You would like to get some kind of
advance or prepayment from Nobel to ease your cash flow.
You would like to continue working with such a prestigious company as Noble Advertising, and
there has been a lot of interest in your work from other companies, too. Having a majority of
your income from Noble or working exclusively for Noble is not an option. However, to be linked
