Final Reflection - Understanding Your Journey and Setting Future Goals

One of the main goals in this class is for you to be able totransferthe writing skills you learn here to future writing situations (no matter if they are academic, professional, or personal). Thinking and writing about your writing experiences -- what is often called "metacognitive reflective writing" - is essential to making your learning "stick" so you can use it again in the future.

Look backandthink criticallyabout all the writing you have done throughout the course.

Brainstorm ideas for your reflection, keeping in mind thatroughly half of your reflection should be spent both "Looking Back" and "Looking Forward."Use the following questions to help you generate ideas. Choose the questions that resonate with you; you do not need to cover all of the questions, but you should have a fairly equal balance between the two categories.

Looking Back

-What did you learn about yourself as a writer in this class?

-What were you most challenged by during the writing in this class?

-What new habits of mind did you practice during your writing? How did you grow in that area?

-What are you especially proud of in respect to your work in this class?

-How has your vision of yourself and your relationship to writing changed since this class began?

Looking Forward

-What new approaches to or attitudes about writing will you adopt in the future?

-What growth/strengths are you proud of? What skills are you still working on?

-What skills and habits practiced in this course will transfer or have already transferred to other composing situations, and why?

-What skills and habits do you still want to practice in future writing?

-How will you see yourself as a writer/composer going forward, and how will that impact your experiences?

-What are your new goals for yourself as a writer beyond this course?

Choose Visuals that Enhance Your Text - Include 2-3

• Screenshots of your previous writing, including previous schoolwork/feedback
• Pictures you have taken that reflect your reading and writing life (books you have read, your workspace, things that inspire you).
• Engaging images found online that represent the ideas or concepts you are writing about
• Even video or audio content (YouTube videos, TED Talks, links to songs, etc.)
