The purpose of this assignment is to develop your writing skills as they pertain to this course. As discussed in class, communication is a critical component of organizational effectiveness in all areas of its operations, and as this pertains to you, communication is critical to your personal professional development. In addition to developing your oral and written communication skills, it is important that you be able to discern the appropriate mode of communication. Some of the factors that impact the mode how to deliver the message have to do with the sensitivity of the situation, its criticality and how quickly the message needs to be relayed andor responded to; as well as the need to have sufficient, relevant, accurate, and timely documentation, and there could be many other factors.
The three writing assignments were designed with the above in mind. Please use the Student Professional Writing Guide that your professor has provided to you in order to complete the assignments that follow. You are asked to complete all three assignments, building upon the feedback that you receive from your professor. Please refer to the writing rubric to understand how you will be graded.
Assignment Sales Communication:
Becoming an expert in sales communication requires understanding how to approach social situations while being smooth in conversations. There are major elements of effective sales communication; assertiveness, authenticity, open mindedness, empathy, clarity and listening. During the process of closing a major deal with one of your corporate clients, you received an email from the client informing you that they are backing out of the deal with you because they found a much better price for the product you are selling them through a competitor. The deal is a very sizable one and you cannot afford to lose this client; however, based on your cost, the price you offered your client is the lowest you could afford to offer.
Draft a response to your client ensuring that you do not lose the deal without causing you to lose money. Be detailed and specific.
Assignment Selling an Idea:
Great ideas are one thing; getting them into the minds of others is another. Use various selling techniques to sell your ideas to others. Remember, marketing is a battle of perceptions, not ideas. All truth is relative what people perceive to be true that is the truth. As the head of Research and Development in your corporation, you realize the need for providing your employees with a work environment that encourages creativity and innovation. In an effort to create that type of environment, you have prepared a benefits proposal to include employee benefits that enhance the overall performance of your employees and provide them with a pleasant environment that achieves an appropriate level of worklife balance. The benefits you are proposing are very costly and extend beyond the traditional paid vacation time and bonuses. Draft a benefits proposal that details the type of benefits that you believe will create the creative, innovative environment that you would like your employees to enjoy in hopes of increasing productivity. In your proposal, be sure to sell your idea and explain how these benefits will yield positive results despite the high cost of offering these benefits. Address concerns you anticipate management to raise as a result of your proposal.

Throughout the interview, it's important to deliver specific examples as often as you can. A very important question you should always be prepare to answer is Why should I hire you? Assume that your interview with a major financial firm in New York is going very well and you are now interviewing with top executives of the firm. You suddenly receive an email from one of the executives who commended you but asked that you email her the answer to one question that will determine, in her mind, whether you are a good fit for the position or not.
Prepare a wellwritten email answer to the question and avoid using clich answers such as I am a hard worker, etc. Be specific, detailed, and provide concrete examples.
