Final Research Project
As you are in the final module of this Community-based Learning Experience 1000 course, you have begun to understand who you are in community and how you can use your skills to benefit others. The final part of this course is to participate in community service but also in applied research. We are looking to gather information on how small businesses meet their accounting needs and how accounting students can support small businesses with services like bookkeeping, payroll deductions, taxes, and other such needs. We hope to create a community accounting hub where small businesses can access accounting help from students. The small business wins because they are getting the help they need and the student wins because they are getting first-hand experience doing corporate tax.
So, what are you to do for your final project of this course? Below are the target accomplishments we hope you will have fun doing, knowing that your work is going to be directly used to support this exciting applied research project at NorQuest.
Target Accomplishments: Students will get a better understanding of small business in their community, learn to gather information for survey purposes and develop a greater awareness of applied research at the college level.
