For digital hardware we only design and implement a digital 'Adder' circuit. We

do not per se design $$ hardware digital 'subtraction' circuit. This improves

hardware efficiency as we only need to implement a hardware Adder circuit that

is capable of adding both positive and negative encoded binary numbers $--$ For

negative binary numbers we encode the base$2$ number to a 'negative' number

code using sign magnitude or $1$ sC or $2$ sC algorithms.
