Question 1:

You are a professional nurse working in an under-staffed emergency department. The hospital is run on a very limited budget, but management is open to suggestions that show a good return on investment in terms of patient care. You think that employing more nurses with emergency department experience and advanced triage training will help manage patient flow and ultimately improve the service delivered to your patients. You think that by identifying the percentage of patients presenting to the emergency department that are seen by a doctor and admitted/discharged in a 12-hour shift will be a good indicator of patient flow, to help motivate for the increase in employment of more nurses.
