Case Study 2 (10 Marks) Fast Gear is one of the largest manufacturers of Tyres in the Sultanate of Oman. The company was established in 2014 and was running successfully. In 2017, the company decided to expand its business. Hence, top management took steps to arrange and structure the works to accomplish the organizational goals. The top management was very particular that all department managers should be specialized in their areas, They divided the work activities into separate job tasks. Employees in Fast Gear were never burdened with multiple tasks at the same time. Management also ensured the availability of resources for all the departments and employees. But the employees and functional managers were confused because the new procedures, rules and responsibilities were not appropriately specified. Sometimes employees were compelled to report to different managers at the same time. Also, they felt that the senior managers failed to motivate, inspire and communicate with them properly. By the end of 2018, the company faced the problem of integration of different activities. This led to decreased productivity and delayed the completion of tasks. As a result, the company started suffering huge losses. The Top Management called for a meeting of functional managers to discuss the situation.
