For our discussion this week, we are going to consider how analytics can be used in unique ways, including in criminal investigations. To start, watch the attached videos. The first is from a TV show called Numbers. The main character is assisting police in locating a criminal by applying logic and math to the problem. The second clip is from a project to apply analyticsto theproblem of identifying one of the most famous criminals in history, Jack the Ripper (this video is a bit long, you may need to watch it in segments). After you watch these two videos, search the web for additional unique applications of data analytics. Write a summary of your thoughts on the two required videos and include the additional applications of data analytics you discovered (minimum Two hundred words). Post your comments to the discussion board (do not use a file attachment). Original posts are due by Saturday, 10/8 @ noon. Then, for full credit, make relevant, insightful comments on the posts of two of your classmates by Monday 10/10 @ midnight. This is a Twenty five point assignment.NOTE: IF YOU CAN NOT WATCH the one on Jack the Ripper, either use the alternative videos listed below or find a different video on Crime and Analytics ... do NOT use a documentary on Jack. This is about the analytics!
