For the class registration system, identify the different steps a student would have to go through if it were completely paper based. In a paper based system, names of students registered for a particular class would be maintained in a notebook called Class Notebook. The notebook would have all the pages numbered starting with number 1. There would be a page for each class offered. At the beginning of the notebook would be an index which would keep record of which page of the notebook has class enrollment information along with its time and the meeting room. A separate notebook, called the Student notebook, would be used for keeping track of each student's schedule. There would be a page for each student where a clerk would write what classes that student registered each semester. At the beginning of this Student notebook would be an index which would record each student's TechID, name, etc. and the page number where the student's record can be found. Number the steps as 1, 2, 3,...... and write a brief description for each step and who would perform each step, student or a clerk, and estimate of how long each step would take. University employees maintain these notebooks and only they have access to them. One of the steps in the manual process would be standing in line to see the clerk. The clerk would also have to check to ensure that you have taken all the prerequisites for each class you plan to register. The information about what the prerequisites are for each course would be on the page for the course in the Class Notebook mention above. List and number each step (first step would be to walk over to the registrar's office, and the second step would be to stand in line and wait your turn), describe the step, mention who would perform that step (students or employee). At the end write the total time for the manual registration process. Now, number and identify the steps that you follow with the current registration system. Write down who would perform each step, you or the computer system. Estimate the time for each step. In the current system, there is no waiting for the clerk. At the end write down the total time for the current registration process. For the manual process as well as the current computer assisted process, in each step identify what data, if any, is needed to perform that step and what data, if any, is recorded during that step. At the end, calculate the difference in total time between the manual and current process
