For the final paper, your task is to do the following:

1. select 2-3 Supreme Court cases from this session and compare and contrast them.
   1. Papers should articulate a clear, argumentative thesis about the relationship of the cases discussed, preferably related to the core elements of due process.
   2. ensure that your citations are properly formatted.

The outline that is due on Sunday does not need to be more than one page. The most important things to include are:

1. Your original thesis
2. which cases you selected
   • Right to Counsel
     • Analyze the impact of Strickland and Lassiter. Gideon theoretically establishes the right to counsel, but then Strickland and Lassiter suggest that the right to government-appointed counsel really only exists if it would help the individual.
3. outline the basic structure of your paper
   1. introduction paragraph (with your thesis)
   2. body paragraphs
      1. which cases are discussed in what order
      2. how does each case contribute to your thesis?
   3. conclusion paragraph
