For the following procedures, indicate how many codes would be needed:
1. Insertion of a dual chamber pacemaker
2. Insertion of a PICC
3. Replacement of a single chamber pacemaker

Because the glands within the endocrine system of PCS do not contain ducts, there are some root operations that are not used. Name two root operations that would not be used in the endocrine system due to the fact that the glands do not contain ducts.
What is the function of the carotid body? Where is it located?
Which lymphatic structure is not found within the lymphatic system in the PCS code book?
Where would you look in the PCS code book to determine which lymph nodes were part of the Lymphatic, Thorax body part?
The hepatic lymph nodes are classified to Lymphatic, __________________.
PREOPERATIVE DIAGNOSIS:Thyroid nodule, right lobe
POSTOPERATIVE DIAGNOSIS:Thyroid cyst, right lobe
PROCEDURE:Aspiration with possible resection or ethanol injection
DESCRIPTION:The patient is taken to the operating room where she was given general anesthesia. A roll was placed under the shoulder to extend the neck. The right neck and chest were prepped with Chloraprep and draped in sterile fashion. The patient was intubated and monitored intraoperatively because the nodule/cyst was identified at a volume of over 15 mL on ultrasound and found near the laryngeal nerve.
Using ultrasound guidance to identify the largest loculation of the cyst, 18 ml of fluid was aspirated and sent for rapid cytological evaluation. The results returned as benign and, therefore, no dissection was indicated. Further ultrasound suggested that the largest loculation of the cyst could be safely injected and the decision was made to perform percutaneous ethanol injection for sclerosis of the cyst. 15 mL of 95% ethanol was injected into the cyst using ultrasound guidance. Anesthesia was reversed and the patient was taken to recovery in satisfactory condition.
1. How many codes would be needed to properly code this operative report?
2. What root operations would be used? And indicate which procedure for each root operation.
3. Would a qualifier of Diagnostic be used for any of the codes? Explain.
