1. For the system described below, create a process map or flow chart describing the system.
2. For the above description, formulate the problem.
3. Define the performance measures of your system to be studied.
4. Use the sample data provided to fit the data to distributions using either the Arena Input Analyzer or Minitab.
5. Develop a simulation, with animation, that fits the current systems, with statistics and at least three performance measures. Define the number of replications. Run the simulation for 31 days and the required number of replications. Provide the simulation Arena model and the reports.
6. Verify and Validate the model. Describe how you would do this, and show the statistical tests to be performed, and how you verified and validated the model.
7. Define three alternative solutions scenarios to improve the process. Revise the simulation for each scenario separately. Provide each scenarios simulation model and reports, clearly labeled as scenario 1, 2, and 3. Describe the experimental design that you used.
8. What would you recommend to the client to improve the system and why? What type of improvement in your performance measures would you expect based upon your simulation runs for your scenarios and performance measures?

System Description:

The system we will be modeling is a hospitals MRI service process. There are 3 MRI Techs who provide MRI test for about 26 patients in a 24-hour period. Patients are both inpatients and outpatients of the hospital. There are 3 MRI tables that are used. There are two main processes, 1) the patient is prepped; and 2) the test is run. The prep and test times for the inpatients and outpatients, as well as their arrival schedules are provided. The MRI test are given to inpatients across the 24-hour period, while the outpatients only receive test from 8 am to 8 pm. Any test in progress before 8 pm can be completed. Three MRI Techs work from 8 am to 8 pm, and only 2 MRI Techs work the other hours within the 24-hour period.
