For this assignment, submit two parts: Your Position Paper Outline which should include your thesis statement as the title; and part two, your Proposed Cases with Citations. A thesis statement is a single sentence that summarizes your main argument or claim, essentially telling the reader what you intend to prove throughout your paper; it acts as a central idea that your entire paper revolves around. E.g., Imposition of rules and regulations on the possession of guns is not a violation of the Second Amendment.

Your outline should be just that, an outline, not a summary of your paper. You can use a traditional method of outlining such as 1., 1a, 1b, etc. whereby you make your main points and then substantiate them in a sentence or two. You can research how to make an outline if you have not done one before. Again, do not submit a summary. Outlining serves to organize your paper.

Also, make sure to include your required five cases/statutes and/or other authority with proper citations. See the following for how to properly cite: (The Indigo Book(Links to an external site.))
