For this assignment, you are to find and select two user interfaces to examine and report on$,$ one as an

example of good interface design, and one as an example of bad interface design. No interface is all good

or all bad, but the features of each example should weigh more heavily on the good or bad side

respectively. Your selected user interfaces may be a desktop software application, a website or a mobile

app.

$1.$ For each interface, write a paragraph briefly describing what the application allows users to do and

its overall purpose. Give website links or provide information on how I can view the interface, if

needed.

$2.$ i$)$ For the good interface, provide $5$ reasons $($in a bulleted list$)$ why the example makes a good

interface, by making explicit reference to concepts learned in class and in the readings.

ii$)$ In the same way, for the bad interface, provide $5$ reasons why the example is bad.

Do not just list a relevant design principle, cognitive framework, or theory, instead you should try to

use these concepts to thoughtfully critique the system, providing a well$-$argued rationale for why the

system is a good or bad design. Each bullet point should be approximately a paragraph long. Provide

screenshots that help illustrate your points.

$3.$ In the case of the bad interface, for each of your $5$ reasons for why an interface is a "bad design",

speculate as to why it might have been designed that way, and suggest a creative re$-$design to address

the shortcomings you have identified.

Try to be specific in your descriptions. For example, do not just say the interface $"$is confusing" or $$is userfriendly$.$

Explain what specifically makes it so$.$ Be as precise as possible about what makes it good or bad,

making explicit reference to the design principles, and other concepts, discussed in class and in the

textbook.
