Question:
For this discussion, answer the following prompt:
Is there any reason why we believe that machines could never think and feel that cannot also be used against human beings? For example, if we say, "Well they don't have souls." That is also used against human beings. People used to try to argue that Native Americans didn't have souls, for example. And since there is no test for it, people used it as an excuse to kill them. So, similarly, are we just putting in ourselves in a privileged "special" position when we say that no matter what machines cannot be as good as us? If it is possible to make machines that can think and feel like us, do we have ethical responsibility to them?
