Administration $($FDA$).$ Below is a description of the data set you have been provided with and the

specific tasks the FDA needs you to complete.

Cereal Data Set Description

This data set contains certain information about $74$ of the cereals available for purchase

throughout the United States. Each row of the data set contains the name of the cereal, the

manufacturer, the values for calories, protein, sodium, fiber, complex carbohydrates, and

sugar per serving, and finally the consumer rating.

Tasks

$1.$ Write a brief summary that describes the center, shape and spread $($variability$)$ of the

Sodium $($mg$)$ variable. Include a graphical display $($boxplot or histogram$).$

$2.$ Using the $1\mathrm{.}5$ IQR Criterion, assess whether the Fiber $($g$)$ variable has any outliers. Provide

support showing how you arrived at you lower and upper thresholds. If any are present in

the data, provide the name of the cereal$($s$).$

$3.$ Compute the $95\%$ confidence interval for the true mean amount of Sugar $($g$)$ in one serving

of cereals available for purchase in the United States. Provide the form, setup and values for

the lower and upper bounds. Also provide an interpretation for the interval you arrived at$.$

$4.$ Using alpha $=0\mathrm{.}02,$ conduct a two$-$tailed hypothesis test to determine if a difference exists in

the Rating for cereals manufactured by General Mills and Kelloggs. Provide the

hypotheses, critical value$($s$),$ support for the test statistic and p$-$value, and your decision

with justification.

$5.$ Briefly explain what, if anything, would change if you were told to use alpha $=0\mathrm{.}01$ instead of alpha$=0\mathrm{.}02$ in the above hypothesis test.
