For this question we consider a system with five stages. There are two component stages: stage 5 procures component A, and stage 4 procures component B. Stage 3 then takes inputs from stages 4 and 5 (components A and B) and does an assembly of a final product. The final product is then transported to stage 1 or stage 2 representing a distribution center in Europe and a distribution center in North America. Demand is served from stages 1 and from stages 2. (In the image below - A should be stage 5 and B should be stage 4).
