For your first journal assignment, I would like you to consider the topic of clothes and identity. How are the things that you wear reflect who you are? Think about the clothing and items you choose to wear on a daily basis. Discuss how you make the choices you make, and how this affects you. Explain how you feel what you wear, has impacted your social development.

Also, please discuss how what you wear is influenced by our culture, material and non-material. Be sure to give 3 examples and connect them correctly to the choices. Examine values and norms etc., and trace their path to the particular choices you make. Please use appropriate terminology and concepts as applied to Culture (Chapter 3)

Please make sure to accurately use sociological theory/concepts to back up your statements. You must include at least 5 sociological concepts/terms (vocabulary items in chapter) in your paper (separate from material and non material culture) and you must demonstrate that you understand them fully, which will be evident in how they are used in your writing. Just throwing terms around to use them up does not constitute a demonstration of your understanding of the terms.
