From this weeks reading, we learned that in the strategic process, tactical and operational plans serve different purposes and are distinguished by their time frame, scope and level of detail. With a tactical plan someone can outline the specific actions and steps needed to implement the broader strategies defined in the strategic plan. It focuses on the short to medium term. It can also translate strategic goals into actionable tasks, usually managed by middle level management. An operational plan details the day$-$to$-$day activities required to run organization and support the tactical plans. It mainly focuses on the short term. Operational plans ensure efficient and effective daily operations to support tactical objectives. This is usually managed by lower$-$level management or even team leaders. Overall, tactical plans bridge the gap between strategic goals and operational activities, while operational plans ensure the smooth execution of daily tasks to achieve tactical objectives.
