Gaussian (Normal) Distribution. The matlab library function rand returns uniformly-distributed random variable in the range (0,1), which means that there is an equal probability of any given number in the range occuring on a given call to the function. Another type of random distribution is the Gaussin Distribution, in which the random value takes on the classic bell-shaped curve shown in Figure below.
