When he showed up for work, he was presented with a number of documents that required his signature, including one entitled "Employment Agreement," which he signed along with the others. One of the terms of that employment agreement was that, if he should ever be terminated, he was entitled to only three months' notice. After working for the company for a number of years, his employment was terminated with only three months' notice. He sued for wrongful dismissal. There was no finding in these circumstances that Mr. Jones had done anything wrong. Under normal circumstances, he would be entitled to 12 months' notice or pay in lieu of notice upon termination (given the length of service and surrounding circumstances).
