General Guidelines

• You are expected to open a new Word file, answers, and submit it on Blackboard.
• Use Insert - Equation command in MS Word to type formulas.
• Answer the questions with complete sentences whenever possible.
• If you have some difficulties in using equation commands in MS, you can hand-write, take pictures of them, and insert the pictures in the MS file.

(1 to 2) (25 points)

The following is a "faked" sample of 10 female respondents. The variable of interest is the number of children one has ever born.

2. Calculate the mean, variance, and standard deviation of the variable "number of children." To get credit, you need to show your steps, including formula and hand calculation. You can tabulate the data and statistics in a similar way with that in Lecture 5 slides. (15')

The following is a "faked" sample of 16 respondents. The variables of interest are political party affiliation and attitude to U.S. foreign policy. The numerical codes for the variables are also given.

4. Tabulate the frequency distribution of the variable "Attitude." Include "frequency," "cumulative frequency," "percentage," and "cumulative percentage" columns. Use original variable values rather than numerical codes. (15')
