The formal structure of an organization are people with similar skills, who perform similar tasks are grouped together into formal work units who share technical expertise, interests, and responsibilities according to the textbook. An organization that I am familiar with is Texas Workforce Commission Vocational Rehabilitation Services which operates under a customer structure who groups together people and jobs that serve the same customers or clients. People are our product and failure is not an option is something I overheard in a meeting and it stuck with me and brought me back roots and the customers served. A reflection of this design is the environment of the organizational values of employees being their greatest asset, excellence is in everything they do, treat people with respect and dignity and if fair and equitable manner, strive to be innovative, flexible, and learning organization, commit to transparent internal and external communications and committing to being an exemplary employer, with world-class performance. Reflections on the goals of putting customers first last fiscal year was a great initiative after returning into the office while out during the pandemic. The goal for this fiscal year is stead pace wins the race, which in my opinion is bring everyone back to the roots of vocational rehabilitation and raising their competencies by providing training and hosting statewide policy update review sessions. Being an early millennial and having been in the agency for 11 years, I can say that the changes that have been implemented this year are ones that were needed when I was first employed. Although this is a step in the right direction, there is still plenty of work to be done and room for growth.
