Group assignment - Spartan Plastics Learning objectives: to understand concepts of JIT and world-class manufacturing; to highlight changes that may be necessary in various areas of the plant; to introduce problems that plants can expect to face upon implementing JIT and a continuous flow process. Each member of the group should read carefully the case description. Then as a result of group discussions the group is preparing one joint PowerPoint presentation providing answers to the following questions: 1. What is your assessment of the changes that have been made in Spartan? 2. What are the things Spartan has done well? 3. What, if anything, would you have done differently? Why? 4. What are the reasons for the high scrap rate in Spartan? For product 77, how much scrap is attributable to each of these reasons? 5. What do you think of the trade-off facing Mr. Angove? What would you do about it? Group shall present the presentation during class on 08th May, 2019. Duration of each group presentation: 12-15 min. Each group member should present his/her part of the presentation. Each group participant will be scored according to the following criteria: - Time and structure of the presentation (20%); Style (20%); - - Content (30%); - Use of equipment and materials (10%), - Peer assessment on participation in the group work (20%). For this assignment each participant can earn up to 200 points.
