[Problem Set - I]
1. Review the job descriptions
- Consider common key factors for success (compensable) of this organization.
2. Define Compensable Factors
- Determine compensable factors (3-5) from Job Descriptions
- For simplicity, decide to use one of the existing job evaluation plans:
NEMA plan or Hay plan.
- Describe why you chose the job evaluation plan. (Describe the reason before the job evaluation tables.)
3. Weight the factors according to importance
- Weights could be different by its importance. But once they are decided, they should be applied to all the jobs in the same way.
- The sum should be 100%.
4. Scaling the factors
- For simplicity, all factors are to be evaluated, using 5 degrees.
(Disregard the description of degrees in Exhibit 5.13)
- Evaluate each job, using the template of plan you chose.
o If necessary, you can make sub-factors.
o You need to cut-and-paste this job evaluation table for each job.
- Add up the job evaluation points for each job.
5. Job Structure
- Rank the jobs, based on the job evaluation points (high to low) for each job groups (Managerial vs. Technical).
