Untangle is an application that integrates a variety of open-source monitoring software into a single management console. It can monitor all traffic that passes over a network. It also has the ability to filter out unwanted traffic. The Untangle Lite Package is free and uses open-source software. In this project, you won't install Untangle because it requires additional hardware that you may not have (i.e., a server that will pass traffic between your internal network and your gateway). If you have access to a testing server, it's well worth the effort to install and configure Untangle. In this project, you will watch a couple of videos exploring Untangle's functionality, its value to businesses, and reporting ability. You will see that Untangle is extraordinarily easy to use. It also combines monitoring and filtering functions. Most importantly, it's completely free.
