I've never really established backups for Google. Its just such a consistent performer that I've never felt the need for a backup. Even when I'm forced to use something other than Google Chrome (IE or MS Edge) and the web browser defaults to Bing, I still directly navigate to use Google to begin my web browsing. As I write this post, I'm realizing I'm more dependant on Google than I originally thought. Even with the knowledge that Google has virtually worked itself into every facet of my life and that it tracks my search history as well as my mobile device footprint for profit, I truly couldn't care less (Barron, 2021). Although, for the sake of this exercise I will explore some backups.

If I was to stray from Google, it wouldn't be for Bing or Yahoo. There are many search engines displaying remarkable social responsibility. Although I highly doubt Google will underperform, researching these backup alternate search engines have really broaden my perspective. I'm going to make a conscious effort to start using the three backups I suggested to help organizations that are accentuating social responsibility.
