Clinical Documentation Improvement [CDI] Plan Evaluation

Rome hospital implemented a new CDI program six months ago. The Chief Financial Officer has requested an evaluation of the CDI to ensure that the facility received the desired results. The metrics identified in the evaluation will be used on an ongoing basis for compliance monitoring.

The CDI program reports to you, the HIM Director. You asked the supervisor of the CDI program to create a plan that you will use to evaluate the effectiveness of the program. In reviewing the metrics that the supervisor has proposed, you review the following list found in Table 5.9. Evaluate each metric to determine if it should be part of the ongoing monitoring. Justify your decision.
