I'm not sure where everyone is from, or who would even remember, but there used to be two Pizza Huts in Grand Forks, North Dakota. The good Pizza Hut on S Washington, and the bad Pizza Hut on 32nd. When I was in college, the first time, I worked at the good Pizza Hut. I thought it was a quite the unique situation because 90% of the employees knew each other before working there, even the manager. We went to classes with each other, the bars, and all sorts of things. If you were part of the group, and you needed a job, you just had to ask.

At work, there were no arguments and no problems. Everyone understood what their job was, and what needed to be done, and just did it. So I would say that well all had great working relationships with each other, and it lasted for quite some time.

But it didn't last forever. After the manager left, and one of the regular employees took over, things started to go downhill. That place used to be really busy and being short handed sucked a lot. By this point, I was nearly done with school, and many other people had already finished, and moved on. The number of reliable employees was much less than it used to be. One day, the manager called me and said he wouldn't be in for whatever reason. And then the next week, he called again, and said the same thing. Eventually, he made up reasons to not be at work at least 3 times per week. I was getting pretty sick of it because it put more work on everyone else. So finally, one day, I arrive at work and he calls me to say that he is going to work from home that day. I didn't know what to think. This was way before covid made it cool to work from home. And how the heck do you work from home at a fast food place? A half hour into my shift, I received the final sign that I need to change jobs. I finished talking with him, hung up the phone, clocked out, and never set foot in the place again.
