The forces push against the moving objects, reducing the momentum that creates heat. So the objects slow down because the momentum is transferred to either the air or the ground. 2. The heavy object has the greater momentum because energy = 1/2mv^2 and momentum = mv. If the energy stayed the same a bigger mass diesnt need as much speed but it still gives more total momentum. 3. When the air is coming out of the balloon in one direction, it pushes the balloon in the opposite direction. 4. When the boy jumps forward, the force from his jumping pushes the boat backwards in the opposite direction. 5. He didn't move forward because he never applied his force to anything else. He could have thrown his bag of coins in the opposite direction, causing him to be pushed forward toward the shore
