Here are some standards from Oregon.-- K.NCC.A.3 Identify number names, write numbers, and the count sequence from 0-20. Represent a number of objects with a written number 0-20. K.NCC.B.5 Count to answer "how many?" questions using up to 20 objects arranged in a variety of configurations or as 10 objects in a scattered configuration. Given a number from 1-20, count out that many objects. (Oregon Department of Education, 2021). These standards allow students to interact by having a variety of activities that these kids can do to show mastery of these standards. Games in my class that we use for these standards are card games- each child flips a card, whoever has more gets their card and their partners. They discuss as they go through the game too, ' I have___. ___ is more/less than ____'. Another game we play is grab and count. I'll get a bag and fill it with random toys- each student counts and draws whatever they picked in a handful out of the bag. We do this as a group, and students will model their drawing and show the quantity of things they grabbed. Both allow for discussions in the class, with the potential to peer correct and offer advice to agree or disagree
