QUESTION 2 [21 MARKS] [38 MINUTES] Galaxy (Pty) Ltd (hereinafter referred to as Galaxy) is company engaged in the manufacture of metal products for the engineering industry. Galaxy is registered in South Africa with its head office in Cape Town. Galaxy has a 31 December year-end. The following is a screenshot of the complete statement of financial position of Galaxy as at 31 December 2022. Any information that you do not see on the face of the financial statement is not presented anywhere else in the financial statements. You have tried to get more information on some of the items but noticed that there are no notes to any of the items. You have gathered the following information related to the financial statements of Galaxy for the year-ended 31 December 2022 from the Financial Manager of Galaxy: 1. No depreciation was recognised on its fleet of vehicles for the year-ended 31 December 2022. The vehicles are included under the line item "Property, plant and equipment". The carrying amount of the vehicles are R2.4 million on 1 January 2022. The total useful life of the vehicles is five years. All of the vehicles have been purchased on 1 January 2020. 2. Galaxy received cash of and recognised income for R28000 relating to income from renting a machine to its neighbour under an operating lease. The rent for the machine is fixed at R2 000 per month for two years. The machine has been rented to Galaxy's neighbour since 1 January 2022. It is not Galaxy's ordinary business to rent machinery. 3. Galaxy has not received an invoice from the local metropolitan for its water usage for December 2022.
