Hi. Can this be explained ? The answer is two and four, but I dont undertsand how. If the current is the same direction, shouldnt the magnetic field be in the same direction based on the right hand rule? And this would mean they add together, not cancel to zero. Please help. Thanks

Hi. Can this be explained ? The answer is two and four,

The drawing shows four situations in which two very long wires are carrying the same current, although the direction of the currents may be different. The point Pin the drawings is equidistant from each wire. Which one (or more) of these situations gives rise to a zero net magnetic field at P? Ans: 1 & 4 P . P P 2 3 4
