Hi, I need help answering these examples. Does the FMLA apply to nonbiological children that are not adopted?

For example, step children. You are married to their parent the child gets sick and is rushed to the Hospital. Can you take FMLA time off (assume your sick/vacation time is all used up) to be there with your spouse even though the child is not yours biologically and you have not adopted them?

2nd Example, what if instead of a spouse, it's your significant other who you live with, but you are not married? Same situation, but no marriage. FMLA?

How far can we stretch FMLA?

3rd Example, what if I'm the manager of a local pizza joint, (called Pizza Joint ironically), and I have 3 stores and 35 employees that I oversee. My wife's child, my step child, is injured at school you're the HR Person for my employer can I, the manager of Pizza Joint, take FMLA?
