My answer:
Based on the Work Environment Assessment results, our workplace is mildly healthy. The score was 72. My workplace is very civil; we respect each other, the communication between co-workers is good, and there are meetings with the managers and CEO where we, as employees, can express ourselves. However, of course, there are discordances as well, where a co-worker complains about others, but they usually end up getting along, and the co-worker gets upset; the other issue is that pay is not competitive, so employees are not very ha; py with the pay, so when they get overload they cannot handle, and most times there is a big rotation. In my workplace, there is much room for growth. Besides the pay, I'm pleased with my work environment. In my environment, we work as a team; there are several types of professionals: nurses, therapists, doctors, and social workers. By being considered mildly healthy, we are pretty good because, according to (Marshall & Broome, 2021)," It is an impressive challenge for such highly trained professionals to move out of the comfort and habit of their specific occupations to work together(p.162)."
In my own experience, I have encountered incivility in a place where I worked before, and I am in this mildly healthy environment now. I worked in a very toxic environment when I graduated from university. I had a manager who was very sick. I am a very passive and loyal worker, so I would go above and beyond, and she did not like me; I don't know why. The other coworker never said good morning in almost a year, working side by side; it was a very toxic place."According to the Marshall & Broome, 2021): "Along the leadership journey to build and sustain a culture of excellence, one of the most important tasks is the creation of a safe environment. where all people can thrive (p.242)."
I worked there for nearly a year because it was my 1st job. I needed to work to help my husband and care for my 1-year-old baby, I like to be a nurse and care for patients, and I wanted to be there. One time, I came to the nurse station, and I got her talking about me to the other nurse for no reason; I guess she didn't like me. I was just behind them, and then they looked at me and did not say a thing, I was in shock. I spoke to the charge nurse, but she said she was the manager and there was not much I could do. Instead of reaching the CEO, I left for a job offered to me, and I'm staying until today. She was so unprofessional. She made me feel marginalized and disrespected. I was so under stress. I left that toxic place. According to McDermott et al: "In addition to the challenges faced by NLRNs during their professional role transition, workplace incivility experiences may prompt NLRNs to seek another position or leave the profession altogether (2021)."
