In this exercise, you are playing the role of a researcher that is interested in the effects of three types of rewards programs for increasing employee motivation. When examining motivation in organizational settings, you can look at different factors: 1) a lower frequency of counterproductive workplace behaviors (e.g., cyber slouching, absenteeism) and 2) a higher frequency of employee engagement. You are also interested to know if there are gender differences across groups.
For the purposes of this research study, employees in a sales department were randomly assigned to groups and offered one of three reward programs during the second quarter of the fiscal year. After completion of the study, participants completed a survey to assess their counterproductive workplace behaviors (CWBs) and their engagement levels. For counterproductive behaviors, lower numbers are better, below 100 is considered optimal. For employee engagement, 60 or higher is optimal.
