Reports: week 1: I was not productive this week due to my inactivity on canvas. Even when I worked on my assignments, I couldn't stay engaged in them, as I had a hard time figuring out what to write. But what I learned about were the articles I read for the assignments. I'm not sure if I improved as a writer based on what I wrote in my discussions, but it was the best I could do.
week 2: I made sure to stay more productive than I was last week. However, I was more focused on catching up on my essay and the few other assignments from last week, so I was less engaged in the activities this week. I learned that receiving feedbacks is the most important part of improving your essay. I also learned more about language that changes over time and how that reflects each generation.
week 3: I was mostly productive with the first three assignments, except for the Essay 1 Draft 2. I tried to stay engaged in the essay, but I couldn't find a way to revise it. I think I improved as a writer, even though it took me a lot of time to figure out what to summarize.
week 4: I made sure to stay productive by getting the assignments done either early or on time. I was engaged in the activities by staying focused throughout those hours I spent on each assignment. After reading the topics I chose about the pros and cons, I realized that Writing Activity 12 and 13 had helped me focus more on both the good and bad sides of something argued about, instead of just either one of them.
week 5: I tried to stay productive this week, but there were some obstacles that prevented me from staying focused. I stayed engaged the whole time I worked on the assignments, except for Essay 2 Draft 1. I took several small breaks from the essay until I eventually completed it. I might have improved as a writer, even though it took me a considerable amount of time to decide on what to write about.
week 6: Although I didn't submit any assignments on time, I dedicated an extensive amount of time to working on them. Although the writing style of the reading isn't my preference, I believe I've improved as a reader by interpreting the contents more effectively.

The focus and effort and engagement rather than the final product was a new concept to me. But as weeks went by, I began to understand the system better and saw improvements in my work. I learned to value the process of brainstorming, drafting, revising, and receiving feedback. For example, I realized the importance of feedback in improving my essay, which was different from my previous focus on the final product. The system made writing both easier and harder for me. It was easier because there was no pressure to create a perfect final product. I was allowed to make mistakes, learn from them, and improve my work through revisions. However, it was also harder because it required more effort and engagement. For example, I struggled with revising my essay but learned to persevere and improve my work.
The labor-based grading system taught me to view writing as a process rather than just a product. It encouraged me to engage more deeply with my assignments and to value the process of learning and improvement. Despite the challenges, I believe I have improved as a writer and learned valuable skills that will benefit me in future writing tasks.
