How to I create a makefile that compiles and run with the command "make".

I only have main.cpp and main.o files , my executable should be named main

this is what I have in my makefile at the moment but it only compiles.

CXX = g++

CXXFLAGS = -g -std=c++11

main: main.o

$(CXX) $(CXXFLAGS) -o $@ $^

main.o: main.cpp

$(CXX) $(CXXFLAGS) -c main.cpp -o main.o

clean:

rm *.o main
