The example that you used for using the natural numbers for bill paying and balancing, etc is a great example! It's not often that when we are doing our normal every day things that we stop and think that we are actually doing some sort of math. It's literally everywhere! My son is learning to count, the repeating 1, 2, 3 on objects when he was a little baby has helped him at almost 3 to be able to count to 20 and moving forward. Another example of when we use natural numbers and probably don't think about it too much is when we are measuring something whether it be for new curtains or for a new fence in the back yard. We need that ruler or measuring tape with the numbers on it and counting.
