However, I hold a contrary view on the topic of witnesses because I believe testimony from a single witness can be used to convict the accused. One witness is enough if the jury believes in the credibility of the witness testimony beyond a reasonable doubt. A single witness testimony is enough if it is proven that the witness has no memory issues, is under the influence of drugs, or conflicts with one's testimony. Cross-examination helps in the discovery of the truth and accuracy of the witnesses' statements to ensure a fair trial for the defendant (Doak et al., 2021). This aligns with the scriptures, which emphasize the need for thorough investigations to eliminate false testimonies. The scriptures confirm my views on providing physical evidence in courts because it provide proof that links the accused to the crime.

The criminal justice system does not really consider the witnesses provided that the testimony presented convinces the jury beyond a reasonable doubt that it is truthful and credible (New York State Unified Court System, 2022). Therefore, the jury can rely on the testimony of one witness after considering all necessary factors in assessing a witness's believability. Cross-examination is a fundamental procedure in the criminal justice system. It typically involves witness questioning to assess the credibility of their testimonies against the accused. The current system requires cross-examining of witnesses to protect defendants' right to a fair trial. Lastly, courts rely on physical evidence collected in the form of fingerprints, documents, weapons, and other tangible objects to provide proof linking the accused to the crime (National Institute of Justice, 2023). Physical evidence is more reliable than testimonials provided in courts since it is objective in nature.

The current system can change to align with the scripture on the issue of witnesses by not convicting someone based on a single testimony. A single testimony cannot make someone be put to death, but testimonies from two or more people can (New International Version, 2017, Deut. 17:6). This can help protect innocent individuals from witnesses who make false testimonies sound true. However, courts should continue acting biblically by cross-examining witnesses and relying on physical evidence presented by the victims, witnesses, and investigators.
