Classmate case study #17, "Taryn".

2. I selected this study because it portrays a realistic view of adolescence and I appreciated that Taryn's parents worked to help him. Taryn was a student who struggled in a public school environment. His parents recognized that he was struggling and transferred him to a different school, enrolled him in sports, and supported him with tutors.

3. I believe Taryn's main issue is that he was immature and required more structure than he was initially receiving. Once Taryn's parents stepped in and provided him with extracurricular activities and tutors, his behavior and grades improved.

4. I believe Taryn's issue was a social-emotional one. Developing children experience major changes over a short period of time and they can struggle with emotional and impulse regulation.

5. Taryn's issues could have been prevented by earlier intervention from his parents. I think providing a schedule of extracurriculars and tutors earlier could have benefited him.
