How would I reply to the post?

Companies can be completely different, such as their core values, believes, incentives, benefits and their organizational culture. Creating a company that you employees view as a positive workplace is extremely important when it comes to the retention of your employees and the way that employees view your company. Also, the way that employees view your company can reflect how consumers and clients view it as well. The Organizational Culture Assessment Instrument (OCAI) is a great tool to compare the difference between the cultures of your employer and the way you personally view your employer. It gives you a great graph to visually see where the disconnect is and if there is and where can see where the improvements can be made.

The results of the OCAI test between the way that I view of my company and the actually culture of my company are pretty close to the same on the chart. It came back with a mixture of different results, basically a recipe of what they consist of. The first result that came back was that my company creates a dynamic work environment, where creativity is taken and flourished. Second, was the collaborative culture, where it does not feel like a hierarchal management system but rather a family who cares about working with one another and together to create that feeling of an open and welcoming environment. Third, was control culture, where although it is an open environment family-like feeling, there still are rules in place to keep the company organized. Without some sort of rules and organizations in companies, it could create chaos and no structure. Lastly, there is compete culture, where the company still expects results, with some leaders being drivers and have some high performance.

After seeing these results, I do see my company as a complete mixture of all of these, a lot more positive than any negative, especially being in an recruitment agency. Recruitment agencies can known to be very competitive by nature because there are an endless amounts of them and a lot of clients do no have any loyalty towards just one. In an environment where you would expect everything to be just metrics driven because that is a huge source of the income for the company, mine does not feel like that. I have friends that do work for other agencies, where there are strict metrics that have to be met along with daily, weekly, quarterly and annual goals. Ours is more of a dolphin environment and not a shark type feeling. It is not a welcoming or comforting feeling when you feel that your company views you more as a financial asset than a human being, and thats what I see in other companies and how their employees feel.

Compensation can be different across the board in any company, their structure of pay, if youre strictly commission based or if you have a base plus commission whatever structure you have there. At my current company, I have a base plus commission. Some agencies have it where youre at a draw account, so you would owe a certain amount of billing to basically earn your paycheck and in order to see commission you have to make a certain billing amount. Everyone has different views on what they want, based on their experience and how they perform, but I am happy that I do not have the stress of making a certain goal especially since I am newer to the recruitment industry. Aside from monetary benefits, recognition in your company can be very important and motivating to all employees, it has been known to create engagement between employees, create a loyalty between the employee and the company and make them feel seen (Prossack, 2021). According to the text, this can be a very motivational driver to seeing the happiness and success of your employees, how they view themselves and how they view the company (Luthans et al., 2021).. In my current company, we have a rewards program where employees can give a shout out to another employee to recognize them. This rewards program also accumulates points to where you can redeem them for gifts or experiences for yourself. Its also a nice feeling to be appreciated for the hard work that you do and can motivate people as well as feel positive about themselves as well as the company.

Benefits are extremely important and something that cannot put a price on is benefits, such as medical, dental and vision. Thankfully, my company offers great benefits, but I came from a smaller firm that originally said that they would offer me benefits after my probation period and become a permanent employee. After my probationary period ended, they retracted their offer to offer me benefits and said they couldnt offer them at that time. It became extremely stressful not having them, worrying all the time if something happened I would not the financial means to front an entire hospital bill out of pocket. After being in that position, it makes you see clearly how important they are and how imperative it is for companies to offer them.

As far as the OCAI test, the results that came out of it were pretty much spot on and the fact that everything I looked in, in a company matched almost exactly to the chart, it was satisfying to see. The only suggestion that I would make and its not a company as whole but sometimes managers can lose sight of things for a second and be more money drive to make a placement than to understand that were human and we do the best we can. Thankfully, I have that relationship where I do not feel uncomfortable to talk about my feelings and if that happens they realize and we discuss it. After all, a company is no one without their employees.
